Ulysses’ Crewmen by Insurgent Theater, Place Shaped Reading by {blank} Shaped Reading Series
The evening began intimately with an extraordinary performance by Insurgent Theater. While the play was physically exhausting for both actors, the small circumference of a stage created by a circle of audience chairs required emotional strength from every set of eyes glued on the scene progressing on the lodge’s wood floor.
Later, the poetry commenced! A thick gaggle of stanza lovers filled the lodge and helped themselves to snacks provided by organizers during a mid-reading intermission. It was a soothing ending to the night as the front windows began to perspire with body heat and only the quietest sounds of cracker-munching perforated the poet’s descriptions of quiet fields, cheerleaders, and Humphrey Bogart.
